AutoZone, which is a leading distributor of auto parts, spares and car accessories in Southern Africa, is the region’s largest automotive parts retailer and wholesaler. 

It has a footprint of over 200 stores, with a well-developed and established supply chain of more than 500 world-class suppliers contributing to a massive range of over 75 000 parts.

It has extensive distribution networks across South Africa and the SADC region. The corporate store-owned model differentiates AutoZone from its peers, providing management with more operational flexibility.

Established in 1963, Associated Battery Manufacturers (ABM) is the only battery manufacturing company in Kenya, and the largest in East and Central Africa, with its batteries available through a wide network of strategic partners across much of the African continent, provding both vented and maintenance-free batteries for automotive and solar use. 

ABM exports batteries into Uganda, DRC, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Sudan, Djibouti, Sudan, Malawi, Ghana and Mauritius. ABM recycles 12 000 metric tons of lead annually, and produces over 1.6 million batteries a year.

ATE supplies many international car manufacturers in Southern Africa with a comprehensive product range of brake products.

Products: branded brake pads, discs, shoes, master and wheel cylinders, and other braking components

First Battery is a leading manufacturer of lead-acid batteries in South Africa. It has been at the forefront of battery technology and innovation for over 90 years, and offers batteries for various applications, including automotive, marine, standby power, and renewable energy.

Batteries are distributed to consumers through a network of local distributors and First Battery Centre franchises as well as OEMs, and exports to some 40 countries.

Products: Batteries, solar systems, backup systems, standby systems, charging systems

Originally founded in 1962, Smiths Manufacturing is a leading South African automotive component manufacturing company established in 1962.

It supplies, under license, a diverse range of localised integrated vehicle systems and parts for major OEM’s in South Africa.

It operates as a partnership between Metair (75.0%) and technical partner Denso (25.0%). In addition, Metair owns 49% of a Denso Aftermarket JV, supplying parts into Africa.

Products: Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and climate control systems, air cleaners, wiper and washer systems, radiators, charge air coolers, engine control units
